On June 8th, 2016 a California Highway Patrol office looked down at his computer while driving. At approximately 3:30 pm the CHP vehicle rear ended a vehicle in which 15 year old Weston Sites was sitting in the back seat. Sadly, Sites was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.
The Willows, California teenager was in the wrong place at the wrong time as he was doing nothing wrong. For reasons unknown, the unnamed officer (due to investigative reasons) looked down at his computer while driving and did not react quickly enough once he saw traffic was slowing down in from of him.
As most know, all CHP vehicles are equipped with a laptop computer. Officers are trained to only use these devices when their vehicle is stopped and not moving. Unfortunately, for the loved ones of Mr. Weston Sites, this was a negligent act by the CHP officer.
