On Friday night, February 10th, 2017 a mother of five, Rosario Ramirez, was hit on San Antonio Avenue and Vesta Street. Unfortunately, the driver fled the scene and the authorities are still trying to find them. Ms. Ramirez suffered injuries to her head, her pelvis was broken and she remained in critical condition throughout the weekend. We have not received an update on her status.
Police have reported that Ramirez was walking home from a grocery store when she was hit. Local residents have called for a stop sign or flashing yellow lights at the base of the cross walk.
“They believe the car was going quickly, however they couldn’t approximate a speed. They said that she did hit the top of the hood of the car, which has been described as a four-door Toyota sedan, maroon or red in color, a 1990s model,” said Detective Melissa Ramirez of the Ontario Police Department.
